Which is Better – Wired or Wireless Security Cameras?
There are a lot of security cameras on the market and one can never know which is the best product. Before one buys a security camera one must know what is the purpose and where it is going to be installed. One should also have a budget in mind, because the majority of these cameras are not cheap.
In essence there are two types of home security cameras - wired and wireless.
The wired cameras have been around a lot longer and function well. They are relatively more difficult to install (you will need a ladder, screws, mounting, etc), and also require installation of wires in and around the home. But they are a lot cheaper than wireless cameras and can give continuous surveillance on a more permanent basis. They are ideal for the outside of the home.
The wireless cameras are the in-thing today and are often identified as spy cameras. These tiny cameras do not require any wiring except a transmitter which picks up the signal. They are portable and are so small that they can be placed anywhere. Fortunately because they do not require any wiring, they can be placed anywhere and also be moved around. They function just like a portable mobile phone. The major disadvantages of these wireless devices is that they have a battery which needs to replaced or recharged constantly. The wireless devices also have a limited range of function because the signal can be lost if they are placed too far away from the transmitter. They are also more expensive than the wired devices. Most individuals use the wireless cameras to spy on people for a short period of time. They are not good for continuous surveillance for home security.
Wireless cameras come in various shapes and sizes and fit into any surrounding whereas the wired ones look like a camera. They have different functions when it comes to security but they both produce excellent images.
